A Look Inside

The Avaya 3626 battery includes a small printed circuit board and a few components. The 8 pin chip in the center is a programmable eeprom. It contains information on the status of the battery. When a battery pack no longer holds a proper charge the phone will program this chip as "bad". When that happens the battery pack will no longer work and will not charge. If installed in a 3626 phone the LCD will say "Battery Failed"  Why? We believe this is to prevent customer dissatisfaction in the product. A phone with a weak battery will have connection issues and poor performance. Users may blame the phone rather than the true culprit.

Note: We have seen defective phones and/or chargers with dirty battery contacts that will think the battery is not reliable and set the programming to a failed battery. Users tend to cycle battery packs through this bad phone or charger, ending up with many non-functional but technically good batteries. If this happens we can re-program the packs at our facility and perform load testing. However, it is very important to discover which phone or charger is creating the problem first!
